Today is the birthday of political cartoonist and graphic novelist, Ted Rall.  He's written for the Village Voice and the New York Times as well as Mad magazine.  Currently, he is the president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists.

Today is the birthday of Ernie Bushmiller, the creator of the comic strip, 'Nancy.'

Nancy is somewhat controversial for being completely noncontroversial.  The strip is very bland in it's humor, but beautifully drawn.  Started by Bushmiller in 1933, the strip is still produced by Guy Gilchrist.

Today is the birthday of George Herriman, the creator of Krazy Kat!  Herriman's wonderful cartoon is one of the most influential newspaper cartoons, second only to Peanuts.  I found this video on You Tube.  Enjoy!!!

Today's toon is dedicated to Richie Hayward, the drummer for Little Feat.  Hayward passed away last week from stomach cancer.  Little Feat was one of the soundtrack bands of my youth and I loved this song in particular.  Enjoy.

Hagar lives on by way of Chris Browne, Dik Browne's son.  His other son, Chance, draws Hi and Lois.
